Dive Brief:
- Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with Reside, opened two new apartment-style hotels in Washington, D.C. — Reside Navy Yard and Reside NoMa — as part of the companies’ newly formed 10-year development relationship.
- The properties offer “professionally managed, upscale accommodations designed for both business and leisure extended-stay travelers,” the companies detailed in a joint release Tuesday.
- With the openings, the companies expand their Reside, a Wyndham Residence, portfolio, which includes residential-style hotels in Seattle and Houston. The brand, which fortifies Wyndham’s presence in the upscale extended stay hotel category, has a robust pipeline, Reside CEO Lee Curtis told Hotel Dive in November.
Dive Insight:
With the Reside Navy Yard and Reside NoMa openings, the Wyndham collab has four properties operating across the U.S.
The 81-unit Reside Navy Yard offers a mix of studio apartments and two-bedroom townhouses with in-unit laundry and fully equipped kitchens. The pet-friendly property also provides access to a fitness center. Reside NoMa, meanwhile, offers 67 units with similar in-unit and on-property amenities.
Beyond the Washington, D.C., hotels, Reside, a Wyndham Residence, has some 60 projects in the pipeline, Curtis previously told Hotel Dive.
The apartment-style accommodations line will target the top 50 U.S. metropolitan areas for growth, Curtis said. This includes New Orleans, where a 22-room residence-style hotel is in the works, according to the Tuesday release.
The partnership first launched in October, growing Wyndham’s presence in the upscale extended stay category and debuting its residences tier domestically. Marriott is similarly expanding in the apartment-style accommodations sector through its recent tie-up with Sonder.
The Washington, D.C., hotels opened a few weeks after Reside appointed Walter “J.R.” Dembiec Jr. to head its development partnership with Wyndham. Dembiec will help scale the line to “premier urban destinations,” the company shared in December.
“The launch of Reside Navy Yard and Reside NoMa marks a significant milestone in our mission to redefine extended-stay hospitality with thoughtfully curated spaces in premier urban locations,” Dembiec said in a statement. “Washington D.C. is a dynamic and historic destination, and these properties are designed to offer travelers a seamless blend of modern convenience and residential comfort.”
