Dive Insight:
Outdoor Collection properties feature “exceptional hospitality” and upscale accommodations including safari-style field tents, contemporary cottages, classic cabins and lodge rooms, according to Under Canvas.
Under Canvas recently acquired The Fields of Michigan, a working blueberry farm with a pool, upscale dining, massage services and fields in which guests can pick their own blueberries. The property offers 23 guest accommodations comprising tents and cottages that include ensuite bathrooms, contemporary furniture, electricity and private firepits. Under Canvas did not disclose the terms of its acquisition.
The 30-acre property also offers access to water sports, beaches, bike trails and seasonal events. Restaurant The Willow offers communal dining with small plates and shareables, and features evening s’mores and a weekend supper club. The seasonal camp is open from May 1 to Nov. 2, 2025.
Under Canvas describes Bar N Ranch as a “traditional, western lodge.” Its 200-acre property is six miles from Yellowstone National Park’s west entrance, and also offers access to Grand Tetons National Park.
Bar N Ranch’s accommodations include lodge rooms with fireplaces and one- to four-bedroom log cabins. Guests can enjoy fly fishing, horseback riding, hiking, rafting and guided tours of nearby Yellowstone. The property is open from May 8 to Oct. 6, 2025.
Travelers have demonstrated an increased interest in outdoor-focused stays, experts told Hotel Dive last summer.
The heightened demand has led to a rise in “glamping”-style accommodations — and major hotel companies have taken note. Hilton partnered with AutoCamp to offer more outdoor experiences to its loyalty members last February.
And in December, Marriott International acquired the Postcard Cabins brand and signed a long-term agreement with Trailborn to bring its collection of hotels in “nature-forward destinations” into its portfolio.
In a third-quarter earnings call last October, Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian called the company’s Under Canvas tie-in a “hugely successful partnership.”
