Dive Brief:
- The Ann Savannah, a property being converted under the Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy brand in Savannah, Georgia, will join Sage Hospitality’s growing portfolio of lifestyle hotels, the management company announced Monday in a release obtained by Hotel Dive.
- Upon completion early next year, the lifestyle property — one of the first Apartments By Marriott Bonvoy properties in the continental U.S., according to Sage — will offer 157 apartment-style units and updated amenities. Denver-based Sage will oversee all operations for The Ann, including its food and beverage offerings, according to the company.
- The Ann blends the rapidly expanding lifestyle segment with the similarly growing apartment-style accommodations sector. With the hotel, Marriott International continues its recent push in the latter category, while Sage joins a list of hospitality companies boosting their lifestyle holdings.
Dive Insight:
Formerly the apartment building Ann Street Lofts, The Ann Savannah is being redesigned and relaunched under Marriott’s Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy brand. The property is designed to cater to business and leisure travelers “seeking local experiences and upscale design,” according to Sage.
The property’s suites will include one or more private bedrooms with a separate pet-friendly living space, as well as a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. The property will offer amenities such as a fitness center and outdoor space.
The Ann expands Marriott’s portfolio of apartment-style accommodations.
The hotel company has made a recent push in the sector, entering a long-term licensing agreement with Sonder last month that is slated to add thousands of rooms to Marriott’s pipeline and portfolio, including primarily apartment-style accommodations. Marriott has also recently expanded its luxury branded residences portfolio.
The Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy brand “has tremendous growth potential” across many of Sage’s target markets nationwide, Sage President Daniel del Olmo said. According to Sage’s website, it targets lifestyle assets within major urban and select resort markets.
Sage will handle all operations of The Ann upon its completion in early 2025. The hotel joins Sage’s growing lifestyle portfolio, which includes another Marriott-branded hotel in Savannah: Perry Lane, a Luxury Collection hotel.
Sage is among hospitality management companies, like Raines, beefing up their lifestyle holdings as travelers increasingly seek the design and experiences found at lifestyle hotels. Earlier this month, Raines added the rebranded Hotel Theo in New Orleans to its portfolio. And in the first half of this year, First Hospitality and Highgate made their own lifestyle plays.
