Dive Brief:
- My Place Hotels of America has forayed into Vermont, opening an extended stay property in Randolph Center, the hotel brand announced Thursday.
- My Place Hotel-Randolph is owned by Randolph Hospitality LLC and was developed by Realty Development Services LLC, according to My Place. Cornerstone Hospitality, which manages two other My Place properties, manages the hotel.
- With its entry into Vermont, My Place continues a larger geographic expansion that is franchise developer-centric, CEO Ryan Rivett told Hotel Dive earlier this month. The brand, which is celebrating its 10th year of franchising, has a pipeline of more than 80 hotels.
Dive Insight:
The 64-key My Place Hotel-Randolph offers extended stay accommodations with full in-room kitchens, including a full-size refrigerator, two-burner stovetop, toaster, microwave and coffee maker. The pet-friendly hotel also includes standard My Place amenities, such as a communal TV and business center, laundry facilities, a grilling pavilion and a 24-hour grab-and-go market.
Situated in central Vermont, the property was developed to “match the aesthetic of the region,” with exterior architecture selected to complement the area’s Green Mountain, according to My Place.
The property, My Place’s 73rd open hotel, is part of a larger geographic expansion by the brand.
“We’ve taken a thoughtful approach to expanding the My Place Hotels brand — finding the right locations in the right markets to attract the right guests,” Rivett said in a statement. The brand’s footprint spans 30 states across the country.
Rivett previously told Hotel Dive that My Place franchise developers typically lead the company’s portfolio growth.
“We’re relying a lot on the franchise developers that are key in driving the growth of the brand and their observations and experiences with certain areas of the country or specific regions or markets,” he said.
My Place has a pipeline of roughly 45 projects that will open in the next 24 months and an additional 40 hotels that will open beyond that, according to Rivett.
The brand is among a slew of others, including several by major hotel companies, expanding in the competitive extended stay space.
Marriott International and Hilton are both working to grow their newly launched extended stay brands, StudioRes and LivSmart Studios, respectively. Choice Hotels International, meanwhile, is building up its Everhome Suites and WoodSpring Suites portfolios. And Wyndham Hotels & Resorts recently opened the first location of its Echo Suites brand, which has some 270 hotels in the pipeline.
