Dive Brief:
- My Place Hotels of America has partnered with Grubhub to provide guests access to online and mobile food ordering and delivery, in an effort to “elevate the guest experience,” the extended stay hotel brand announced this week.
- Through the partnership, My Place guests can scan QR codes around each hotel property to access the Grubhub marketplace and order food. The hotel location and courier drop-off instructions automatically populate at checkout for “maximum ease of use,” My Place detailed.
- My Place is the latest hotel company to partner with Grubhub as food delivery service is increasingly demanded by guests, following partnerships with Choice Hotels International, Sonesta Hotels and Hilton’s Homewood Suites.
Dive Insight:
The partnership is a way to enhance the guest experience by “making it easier than ever for hotel guests to get a meal, snacks or convenience items delivered right to their hotel,” Rob DelaCruz, vice president and general manager of Onsite Hospitality at Grubhub, said in a statement.
Offering extended stay accommodations like fully equipped kitchens, My Place guests can also easily store and reheat food in-room, further “enriching” their dining experience and stay, according to My Place.
“Convenience is key,” My Place COO Matt Campbell said in a release, particularly when it comes to guests’ dining experiences — which are becoming increasingly digital.
In addition to mobile food delivery increasing in popularity, according to a McKinsey & Co., technology solutions provider Oracle Hospitality found that some 45% of hotel guests want to make restaurant reservations using their mobile devices, and 37% want to use their phones to order room service.
Campbell said food delivery also allows guests to explore local cuisine while traveling. Chef Stephen Toevs, Marriott International’s senior director of culinary for the U.S. and Canada, previously told Hotel Dive guests will increasingly seek local dining options and ingredients in 2024.
My Place is the latest hotel to partner with Grubhub. In 2023, Choice Hotels International, Sonesta and Hilton’s Homewood Suites brand also struck deals with the online food ordering and delivery platform.
