A Marriott hotel will open in Lake Nona, Florida, near Orlando next month, aimed at accommodating increasing sports tourism in the region.
The Aloft Lake Nona will feature 205 “urban-inspired” guest rooms, along with 15 suites, Marriott International announced in a release. The rooms will include an “eclectic” design, Marriott said. Each room will also feature a retro-looking Marshall sound system.
The hotel will have a sports-themed restaurant and approximately 17,000 square feet of event space, including the 6,000-square-foot Gibson Ballroom and the 10,000-square-foot Althea Lake Nona Events Center connected to the property. Additional events space includes a boardroom, three meeting rooms and outdoor areas.
The Althea Lake Nona Events Center is “poised to become a popular destination for visitors looking for event venues,” Marriott said, and the Aloft will cater to that visitor traffic.
Furthermore, the hotel will accommodate travelers coming to Lake Nona for its “world-class health and fitness facilities,” Marriott said.
When it opens, the Aloft will be the closest hotel to the largest tennis facility in the world, the United States Tennis Association National Campus, and within walking distance to the Lake Nona Town Center, the Drive Shack golf range and Lake Nona Performance Club.
The hotel will also be easily accessible from the Orlando International Airport, following the recent opening of Brightline Orlando Station, a transport hub at the airport with a high-speed passenger train.
