Marriott’s AC Hotel brand expanded in Hawai’i earlier this week with the official opening of a 112-key property in downtown Honolulu.
Los Angeles-based real estate investment and development firm Continental Asset Management, along with hospitality management company Highgate, announced the opening of the AC Hotel by Marriott Honolulu, representing the brand's first property on Hawai’i’s Oahu Island.
The property is also the first “business-traveler-driven concept” in the area, according to Continental Asset Management. The hotel features various flexible meetings and events spaces, including more than 2,500 square feet of dedicated indoor and outdoor executive space.
AC Hotel by Marriott Honolulu opens as demand for business and group travel, specifically, has risen in recent months.
Other amenities at the hotel include DIY lavender turndown kits, hydration stations on each floor and a fitness center with purified air-conditioning and Peloton bikes.
There are also several dining options onsite, such as the AC Kitchen, serving European-inspired breakfast dishes; the AC Lounge, with a tapas and drinks menu; the AC's Common Grounds coffee shop; and Yours Truly, a Tiki-inspired speakeasy with craft cocktails.
The opening of AC Hotel by Marriott Honolulu follows other hotel activity on the island. In November, Hilton took over the Trump International Hotel, Waikiki, with plans to rebrand it as Wākea Waikiki Beach under the management of LXR Hotels & Resorts.
Across Hawai’i’s other islands, Outrigger Hospitality Group acquired Kā’anapali Beach Hotel on Maui, and Marriott International announced a $180 million renovation of the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the big island.
