Global lifestyle brand Margaritaville has opened its first city-center location on the West Coast in downtown San Diego.
The $30 million Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter sits within blocks of some of the city’s main attractions, including Petco Park, the San Diego Convention Center and the USS Midway Museum, offering 235 guest rooms and suites.
The hotel is home to San Diego’s largest rooftop pool deck, featuring the 5 o'Clock Somewhere Bar. Other on-site dining options include LandShark Bar & Grill and Margaritaville Coffee Shop.
The property also offers 13,000 square feet of flexible meetings and event space, including nine venues across 6,000 square feet of indoor space and 7,000 square feet of outdoor space on the rooftop.
Designed by Dawson Design Associates and local firm Rossi Architecture, the guest rooms are “elevated yet playful,” according to a release, featuring a “vintage beach bungalow aesthetic” with surfboards and framed Jimmy Buffett albums on the walls.
Margaritaville’s traditional tropical flare is present in the hotel’s design, along with elements that pay homage to the region. The brand's signature margarita glass chandelier, with pieces hand-blown in Mexico, hangs in the lobby, while art and décor showcases California in the 1960s.
The hotel opening is part of a larger expansion along the West Coast for Margaritaville. In July, the brand announced its first ski destination hotel and resort, Margaritaville Resort Lake Tahoe, and another resort is anticipated for San Diego in 2024.
