Hong Kong-based Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced Tuesday it will manage a new hotel and residence project slated to open in 2030 on Brickell Key in Miami.
The two-tower project, located on a 3.5-acre waterfront site at the southernmost point of Brickell Key island, is part of developer Swire Properties’ One Island Drive hospitality district.
The 400-foot new-build hotel tower — which will replace the existing Mandarin Oriental, Miami hotel at 500 Brickell Key Drive — will feature 151 guest rooms, including 60 suites, 61 private residences and 28 hotel residences. The 800-foot residential tower will have 220 two- to four-bedroom units and two duplex penthouses each spanning more than 6,000 square feet.
The towers will be connected by and share a 100,000-square-foot amenity podium, which will include multitiered infinity swimming pools, private cabanas, restaurants and bars, flexible meeting and event space and the Spa at Mandarin Oriental.
Kohn Pedersen Fox will design the exterior architecture, while Parisian designers Laura Gonzales and Tristan Auer will create the hotel and residence interiors, respectively. Thai firm Shma will lead the landscape architecture throughout the property.
“Destined to become Miami's most coveted condominium address, One Island Drive pairs intricately designed interiors with expansive private outdoor spaces that offer unmatched views of Biscayne Bay and the glittering skyline,” Swire Properties President Henry Bott said in a statement, adding One Island Drive will offer “ultimate” privacy for residents and guests.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group owns and operates luxury hotels, resorts and residences worldwide. The company’s portfolio totals 36 hotels and nine residences in 24 countries and territories.
In May, one of its U.S. hotel properties, Mandarin Oriental New York, partially sold to affiliates of the Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd. The buyer acquired a 75% interest in the property.
