Dive Brief:
- IHG Hotels & Resorts will develop a Kimpton hotel in Fredericksburg, Texas, in partnership with Houston’s DC Partners, the company announced Tuesday.
- The 210-room luxury lifestyle property will be Kimpton’s fourth in the state and will anchor the 22-acre mixed-use development The Meuse when it opens in 2027, according to IHG.
- Kimpton follows several other luxury developments in the works in Texas’ Hill Country. IHG said Kimpton Fredericksburg will be the first in the region to pair large-format accommodations and a full-service events program under one roof.
Dive Insight:
Kimpton Fredericksburg, located about 90 minutes from Austin and San Antonio, will feature a 10,000-square-foot pool and deck with a bar and lounge, a full-service restaurant and bar, a cafe with takeaway options and a fitness center. It will also offer more than 18,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including an event barn, prefunction spaces, meeting rooms, a rooftop lounge and outdoor gathering areas.
Guests will also have access to golfing, fishing, horseback riding and hiking at nearby Enchanted Rock State Natural Area, as well as retail and dining outlets at the 70,000-square-foot Meuse development.
Dallas’ Merriman Anderson Architects and Chicago-based interior design firm Curioso will design Kimpton Fredericksburg to incorporate intelligent climate systems and low-water-consuming landscaping and plumbing to reduce the hotel’s environmental impact.
“We are excited to continue growing our luxury and lifestyle presence within Texas,” said Leanne Harwood, IHG’s senior vice president and managing director of its Americas region luxury and lifestyle portfolio. The Kimpton Fredericksburg announcement follows the opening of Kimpton Santo Hotel in San Antonio last August.
The brand also has two hotels in growing Fort Worth: Kimpton Pittman Hotel and Kimpton Harper Hotel.
Harwood previously told Hotel Dive that IHG has been on “a fairly rapid growth path” in the luxury and lifestyle segment.
Earlier this spring, Hilton also announced a luxury project for Fredericksburg, the Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country, set to debut in 2027.
Wellness resort brand Canyon Ranch is also expanding in the region, with plans to debut a property on a Hill Country ranch following a $150 million investment from VICI Properties.
