Dive Brief:
- Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced Wednesday a technology agreement between its affiliates and Sabre Corporation. Starting in 2024, Sabre’s SynXis Central Reservation System will become the main central reservation system for Hyatt hotels.
- Through the integration, Hyatt aims to enhance its hotels’ reservation capabilities, streamline its operations and deliver a “seamless and efficient” experience for guests with a faster search and booking process, according to the announcement.
- The integration comes after Hyatt owners and franchise management companies expressed a need to create a more efficient and streamlined CRS, Hyatt CIO Eben Hewitt said.
Dive Insight:
Sabre’s SynXis Central Reservation System will replace the proprietary platform Hyatt currently runs on called Reserve.
“Our owners and operators openly shared with us that they wanted a simpler technology stack that was easier to learn and delivered more customized solutions that can drive competitive advantage and more value for our hotels,” Hewitt told Hotel Dive.
“By listening to our stakeholders and taking action,” he continued, “we are modernizing key transaction systems by carefully choosing industry-best suppliers such as Sabre to evolve our technology to better support our guests, World of Hyatt members, customers, owners and our colleagues.”
The integration of Sabre’s SynXis CRS aims to improve the search and booking process by offering enhanced availability calendaring, dynamic pricing, a better disaster recovery profile and more global reach to reduce transaction times, Hewitt said.
Specifically, Hyatt guests will have a more efficient calendar view, including dates when special promotions are available. Sabre’s CRS will also allow hotels to synchronize reservation modifications, giving guests access to newly available rooms in real time.
“Our collaboration with Sabre will also simplify operations for on- and off-property colleagues that will result in enhanced experiences for our guests, World of Hyatt members and customers,” Jessica White, SVP of global property and guest services at Hyatt, said in a statement.
With Sabre’s software, Hyatt owners and operators will experience a “more robust system architecture” that offers more resilience and inventory representation, such as increased selling of room inventory combinations and improved access to fragmented inventory, Hewitt said.
The integration follows Hyatt’s announcement last year of Hyatt PrO, a global collaboration with IDeaS, to optimize its revenue management system. This partnership — aimed at enhancing Hyatt’s commercial technology stack — was similarly informed by hotel owners and operators, the company said.
Hyatt has deployed IDeaS' revenue management platform across its global portfolio in an effort to offer hotels modularity and flexibility, increased automation, organizational growth and better collaboration across commercial teams.
