Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced Tuesday that EVP-Global President of Operations Charles “Chuck” Floyd will retire in 2024.
Effective Jan. 1, Floyd will transition to the role of senior advisor to Hyatt President and CEO Mark Hoplamazian for six months before retiring on June 30.
The 40-year industry veteran started his tenure at Hyatt in management in the early 1980s before moving up to corporate leadership in 1997. He held a series of sales and operations roles before stepping into his current role as global president of operations in 2015.
In this position, Floyd is responsible for the success of Hyatt’s global operations, including ensuring operating efficiency in the rollout of new innovations, unifying the company's global operations and overseeing information technology resources, worldwide sales organization and call centers.
“Chuck’s tenure at Hyatt is nothing short of legendary,” Hoplamazian said in a statement. “He has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Hyatt family, driving excellent and profitable operations and — crucially — delivering the unique Hyatt guest experience that embodies our purpose of care.”
To support Floyd’s retirement transition, Regional Group Presidents Pete Sears (Americas), David Udell (ASPAC) and Javier Águila (EAME), as well as Chief Growth Officer Jim Chu, will report directly to Hoplamazian effective Jan. 1, Hyatt announced.
