- Highgate is among other management companies, hotel owners and developers capitalizing on interest in the burgeoning luxury and lifestyle sector, which is expected to see continued growth in 2024.
Dive Insight:
With the latest hotel additions, Highgate is now operating more than 8,100 rooms in the luxury lifestyle category, with another 1,500 keys under development.
Other hotels in Highgate’s portfolio, added within the last two years, include The Joseph hotels in Nashville and Columbus, Ohio; The Elser Hotel Miami; Romer Neighborhood Hotels in New York City and Waikiki, Hawai’i; and properties in global markets like London.
Highgate’s continued expansion in the sector is a “reflection of a concerted effort to build the best team in the industry to operate world class hotels, create unparalleled experiences for guests and deliver exceptional returns for owners,” according to CEO Arash Azarbarzin, who was appointed in 2022 to drive the company’s luxury lifestyle growth.
The company will continue its luxury lifestyle push into 2024 and beyond, Azarbarzin noted, in line with other companies doing the same.
In the last year, Pyramid Global Hospitality beefed up its luxury lifestyle portfolio, bringing six U.S. hotels under management, while Hersha Hospitality Management created a dedicated luxury lifestyle division. And hotel companies like Hyatt and Marriott expanded their pipelines in the segment.
The luxury lifestyle sector is expected to see continued growth this year as travelers increasingly seek experienced-based trips.
