Graduate Hotels is opening a new property in Austin, Texas, adding to its collection of hotels in U.S. college towns.
The 18-story Graduate Austin, located at the corner of Guadalupe Street and West 18th Street near the University of Texas campus, will be co-developed by Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners, which acquired the property, and The Burt Group.
“Austin has long been a dream location for Graduate,” Tim Ryan, chief investment officer for Graduate Hotels, said in a company announcement obtained by Hotel Dive. “The city's distinct personality, creative energy and adventurous spirit align perfectly.”
While a Graduate Hotels spokesperson declined to disclose the planned room count, they said the hotel will be designed with “eclectic and creative” decor and “classic” architecture, including glazed terracotta and checkered cement tile, grasscloth wallpapers, retro fabrics and warm, desert-inspired hues.
Additionally, the property will feature meeting and event space and on-site parking, as well as a fitness center, ground-floor cafe, lobby bar, rooftop pool and rooftop restaurant and bar.
The hotel represents one of only a few ground-up construction projects by Graduate Hotels, a brand that typically restores and rebrands existing facilities. To be completed in 2025, Graduate Austin will join more than 30 hotels in the brand’s U.S. collection, including in Ann Arbor, Mich.; Berkeley, Calif.; Chapel Hill, N.C.; and New Haven, Conn.
