Red Roof Inn announced last week that President George Limbert will step down on July 12.
Limbert has worked at Red Roof Inn since 2013 and assumed the president role in 2021 after serving as the interim president since 2020. Before joining the company, Limbert worked as an attorney.
“On behalf of the Board, we thank George for his extensive contributions to Red Roof over the past decade, first as General Counsel and most recently as President. With support from the leadership team, he has successfully positioned the company for the future,” Red Roof board member Mohamed Thowfeek said in an announcement obtained by Hotel Dive.
Red Roof cited personal reasons for Limbert’s departure in the announcement, saying he submitted his resignation after accepting a position to pursue other interests in an executive role outside of the hospitality industry.
Thowfeek will oversee the day-to-day operations of Red Roof on behalf of the company’s board as it begins its search to fill the role.
“Red Roof is well-positioned for long-term profitable growth,” Thowfeek said. “We have complete confidence in our senior management team, and we are positive that during this transition period, we will continue to deliver the highest quality experiences for both our franchisees and guests as we have historically done.”
Earlier this year, Red Roof announced plans to open 50 new U.S. hotels by the end of 2023, as well as launch a new dual-branded prototype offering a Red Roof Inn and HomeTowne Studios on the same property.
