Several major hotel companies made a push to add electric vehicle charging stations to their properties in 2023, as a growing number of consumers hit the road in the eco-conscious cars.
Some, including Hilton, set out to meet increased guest demand for more eco-friendly travel solutions. Others, like Marriott, added EV chargers to their hotel properties and corporate offices to further their own sustainability goals.
No matter the reasons, hotel operators’ move to add more on-property EV chargers has helped to grow the national charging network, which is in short supply when compared with standard gas stations.
By expanding this network, hotels are helping to ease “range anxiety,” the stress felt by EV travelers who are unsure of where, or if, they will be able to stop to recharge their cars, EV charging provider LNG Electric CEO Taylor Weaver previously told Hotel Dive.
Having the eco-friendly amenity has also proven beneficial to hotels, increasing guest satisfaction and revenues, Weaver noted.
Below is a roundup of Hotel Dive’s coverage of several notable partnerships, expansions and efforts by hotels aimed at growing the national EV charging ecosystem.
