Driftwood Hospitality Management named three leaders to specialized leadership roles, the company announced Thursday.
The North Palm Beach, Florida-based company named Michael Diaz chief strategy officer, Bryan Postema chief operating officer and Michael Buddemeyer vice president of operations, focus service.
The appointments follow the creation of specialized divisions, DHM President and Principal David Buddemeyer told Hotel Dive.
“This new structure accelerates decision-making, ensures consistent communication, and supports seamless day-to-day operations, optimizing brand standards and resource allocation,” Buddemeyer said. “DHM’s reorganization future-proofs its owners’ assets, positioning them as competitive leaders in their respective markets. This move also strategically positions DHM for growth and long-term success.”
Michael Diaz’s new role will focus on long-term planning and strategic growth initiatives. He was previously chief operating officer, a role he has held since 1998, according to DHM. At the company, Diaz has been involved with the management of more than 100 hotels.
Postema will take over Diaz’s former role, where he will oversee all aspects of hotel operations across DHM’s 80-plus property portfolio, including ensuring guest satisfaction, setting financial milestones and “exceeding” brand standards, according to DHM.
According to his LinkedIn, Postema has been with DHM since 2011, where he was previously managing director for Driftwood Capital Assets and a regional director of operations, among other roles.
DHM also named Michael Buddemeyer vice president of operations, focus service, per a separate announcement Thursday. In the role, Buddemeyer will lead strategy and operations across DHM’s newly created focus service and extended stay division.
Like Postema, Michael Buddemeyer comes to the role with more than 20 years of hospitality industry experience. He previously served as a regional director of operations and general manager with DHM.
Michael Buddemeyer's promotion coincides with DHM’s addition of two properties to its focus service division: the Springhill Suites Fairfax Fair Oaks in Fairfax, Virginia, and the Element Melbourne Oceanfront in Melbourne, Florida, the company said.
A DHM spokesperson told Hotel Dive the appointments are already in effect.
