Fairfax, Virginia-based hospitality management company Crescent Hotels & Resorts appointed Vanessa Claspill as chief commercial officer.
In her role, Claspill will spearhead Crescent’s commercial division, including its sales, marketing and digital operations and revenue strategies, the company detailed in a release.
Claspill brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the hotel industry to the position. She has expertise across “a broad range of hotel categories,” including the luxury and lifestyle segments and large convention properties, according to Crescent.
She previously served as senior vice president of sales at Pivot Hotels & Resorts, the lifestyle division within Davidson Hospitality Group, and held senior leadership positions at Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Sydell Group.
Within her former roles, she focused on “developing and implementing strategic initiatives to drive total revenue generation, with a strong commitment to culture and retention,” according to Crescent.
“Vanessa is an accomplished leader with proven experience in driving revenue, retaining top talent, and partnering with owners to drive success at the property level. Her expertise in building high-performing teams and enhancing profitability makes her an excellent choice for the Chief Commercial Officer role,” Crescent CEO Michael George said in a statement.
Claspill joins Crescent as it expands its management portfolio nationwide, including with the recent additions of a dual-branded Marriott in North Phoenix and the first-ever JW Marriott to open in Virginia.
Her appointment also follows former CCO Dawn Gallagher’s promotion to president of hospitality. Women comprise over 60% of Crescent's leadership team, according to the company, which is not the norm across the hotel industry.
