Dive Brief:
- A 181-room Canopy by Hilton lifestyle hotel opened in Nashville, Tennessee’s growing Gulch neighborhood, Hilton announced in a Tuesday news release.
- Canopy by Hilton Nashville the Gulch will offer five food and beverage concepts, 27 suites with skyline views including a two-story presidential suite, an on-property fitness center and discounted fitness classes at a nearby boxing studio, among other amenities.
- Nashville is in the midst of a hotel investment and development boom, experts told Hotel Dive last month. Hilton, meanwhile, is rapidly expanding its lifestyle brands — including Canopy.
Dive Insight:
Canopy by Hilton Nashville the Gulch will feature collaborations with local spots such as a Five Points Pizza slice window and a full-service coffee bar curated by 8th & Roast, as well as on-property dining options Silo, Mexican rooftop restaurant Coa and a “design-minded speakeasy,” according to Hilton.
The property offers guests complimentary transport to downtown Nashville in a Rivian house car as well as the option to purchase custom hats from American Paint Hat at the hotel.
Gastropub Silo, slated to open in the coming weeks, will offer the largest ground-floor patio in the Gulch neighborhood and feature menus by Executive Chef David Henriquez and Yazoo Brewing Company beers on tap in a tribute to the taproom that once occupied the site.
Jenna Hackett, global lifestyle category leader at Hilton, said the hotel “has been carefully designed to reflect The Gulch, celebrating its industrial heritage and urban sophistication through its interiors, art collection, and incredible culinary program designed to bring people together.”
Hackett previously told Hotel Dive that Hilton’s lifestyle portfolio is focusing on “creating this really high-end experience, but also this experience that can truly be a destination to itself.”
Last June, Hilton announced plans to double the number of its lifestyle hotels in four years, naming former Graduate Hotels leader Kevin Osterhaus president of global lifestyle brands to spearhead that growth.
Hilton’s lifestyle hotel brands include the Hilton-developed Canopy, Motto and Tempo brands, collection brands Tapestry and Curio and the 2024-acquired Graduate Hotels and NoMad brands.
Hilton is currently developing a 180-key Canopy hotel in Utah’s growing Deer Valley ski destination.
Meanwhile, Nashville’s hotel market is undergoing a surge in development and investment, with the city slated to open the second-highest number of hotel rooms of any U.S. market, following New York City, this year, according to CoStar.
“The big brands still dominate, so there’s space in the [Nashville] market for more creative, independent concepts,” TMC Hospitality CEO Philip Bates told Hotel Dive last month. “I think we’ll see things continue to level up. Nashville already has an amazing tourism base, and these next phases of growth will only build on that momentum.”
