Dive Insight:
Bowie House is the latest hotel to debut in the rapidly expanding Dallas-Fort Worth market, which saw heightened tourism and visitor spending in the last couple of years.
Both leisure and business travel to the area is strong, with travelers coming to the area to visit corporate offices or for group and conference events, the cities’ tourism bureaus previously told Hotel Dive.
In 2022, some 10.8 million travelers visited Fort Worth, with direct visitor spending increasing 25% year over year for the second consecutive year. That same year, tourism’s economic impact on the city exceeded $3 billion for the first time.
Bolstered by increased travel demand, the city is currently experiencing significant hotel development, Brian Nordahl, EVP and Texas region leader for the CBRE Hotels Institutional Group, previously told Hotel Dive. Its neighboring city, Dallas, has the largest U.S. hotel construction pipeline in the country, according to Lodging Econometrics.
Fort Worth specifically is seeing a push toward luxury and lifestyle offerings, Nordahl said. Along with Bowie House, he pointed to The Crescent Hotel, Fort Worth as a property set to “make a huge splash” upon opening.
Fort Worth is one of many markets seeing increased luxury and lifestyle development as the segment experiences continued growth.
