Dive Brief:
- Bally's Corporation appointed Mira Mircheva executive vice president and CFO, subject to regulatory approvals, the company announced Tuesday.
- With more than 25 years of experience in finance, including in the hospitality and gaming industries, Mircheva will replace Bally’s current CFO, Marcus Glover, who has been named executive vice president of Bally’s Global Operations Group.
- Most recently, Mircheva served as CFO at East St. Louis, Illinois-based The Queen Casino & Entertainment, a subsidiary of Standard General, which merged with Bally’s last month. Following the deal, Bally’s operates 19 casinos across 11 states.
Dive Insight:
Mircheva joins Bally’s executive leadership ranks following the February completion of a cash merger deal with Standard General that resulted in the combination of Bally’s and The Queen Casino & Entertainment.
Mircheva served as The Queen Casino’s CFO since September 2023, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before joining the operator, Mircheva was a partner at Standard General for nearly nine years. She also previously held leadership positions at global financial services firm Perella Weinberg Partners Asset Management and Goldman Sachs.
Mircheva’s experience at The Queen Casino & Entertainment “will be invaluable as we integrate Queen into Bally’s,” Bally’s CEO Robeson Reeves said in a statement. Mircheva will work to strengthen Bally’s financial position by optimizing its cost structure and enhancing the efficiency of its operations, she said in a statement.
As part of the merger, Bally’s acquired Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as well as Casino Queen Marquette in Marquette, Iowa. Both properties are currently undergoing conversions that are expected to be completed later this year, per Bally’s.
Bally’s is also underway on casino resorts in Chicago and Las Vegas. The Chicago property will feature a 500-key hotel; roughly 3,500 slots; a 3,000-seat theater; six restaurants, cafes and a food hall; and a 2-acre public park.
In Las Vegas, Bally’s is redeveloping a portion of the 35-acre Tropicana Las Vegas casino resort into a ballpark for the MLB’s Oakland Athletics and an entertainment resort destination.
