Aimbridge Hospitality named Michael Murray vice president of operations for Evolution Hospitality, its lifestyle division, the Plano, Texas-based firm announced Tuesday in a release obtained by Hotel Dive.
Murray joined Aimbridge in 2016 as a general manager. Most recently, he was general manager of Hotel Paseo, an Autograph Collection by Marriott hotel in Palm Desert, California. He was also a campus general manager for a Hilton Garden Inn, Residence Inn and Homewood Suites campus in Redondo Beach, California, according to his LinkedIn.
In his new role, Murray will be tasked with developing leaders, enhancing operational results and “elevating Aimbridge’s reputation,” according to the release.
Throughout his time with the company, Murray has been involved in Aimbridge’s GM Council and mentored new general managers. He has also received industry accolades including General Manager of the Year and Hotel of the Year.
In a statement, Gary Thomas, Evolution’s senior vice president of operations, said: “Michael will bring the same passion, energy, and dedication to his new role, further strengthening our teams and driving excellence across the organization.”
Aimbridge acquired Evolution Hospitality in 2015. The San Clemente, California-based lifestyle hotel management firm launched in 2011.
Last February, Aimbridge restructured to streamline its U.S. operations. In the months that followed, the firm tapped a new CEO, CFO, chief global growth officer and board of managers.
