Aimbridge Hospitality has acquired Houston-based Terrapin Hospitality’s management portfolio.
The portfolio, comprising 71 hotels with more than 8,100 rooms in 21 states, joins Aimbridge’s Select Service Division and features properties in the upper-midscale and upscale segments.
Properties in the portfolio include Hampton Inn Denver International Airport, Sheraton Albuquerque Airport Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Airport and others in Florida, Colorado and Texas.
The deal also expands Aimbridge’s existing relationships with Waramaug Hospitality and Terrapin Investments, two large-scale hotel owners in the Terrapin Hospitality portfolio and active investors.
Following the management switch, Aimbridge representatives said the Terrapin Hospitality portfolio benefits from Aimbridge’s talent, operational approach and global growth prospects.
“We are already applying our expertise and operating acumen to the Terrapin Hospitality portfolio,” Aimbridge Hospitality President and CEO Michael J. Deitemeyer said in a company press release.
The Terrapin Hospitality portfolio will adopt Aimbridge’s systems and processes to align with its current management portfolio. Additional units also will likely be added to the portfolio as a result of a long-term strategic development relationship between Aimbridge and Waramaug Hospitality and Terrapin Investments.
With the addition of the Terrapin Hospitality portfolio, Aimbridge offers hotel management services to more than 1,500 properties across the world, including luxury hotels, destination resorts, convention centers and lifestyle hotels.
“The strategic relationship with Aimbridge Hospitality will allow our properties to benefit from the scale and experience of the number one management company in our industry,” said Terrapin Hospitality Founder and CEO Tony Sherman, who will serve as an operating partner at Aimbridge going forward.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
